Miguel A. is Associate Prof. (Senior Lecturer) at Universidad de Granada (UGR) since 2017. He completed his Doctoral Thesis (2006) in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry of UGR. He then began a postdoctoral research in the Chemical Nanoscience Laboratory group of Prof. Andrew Houlton (Newcastle University, UK) until 2011, where he enjoyed a Marie Curie IEF. He retuned to UGR with a Marie Curie RG in 2011, where continue his independent career on the field of bioinorganic chemistry, mainly focused on the study of new metal-DNA systems.

Dr Manuel Pérez MendozaManuel is Associate Prof. (Senior Lecturer) at University of Granada (UGR) since 2010. After finishing his Doctoral Thesis in 2001 he moved to the University of Edinburgh (UK) to join Prof. Seaton's group, working on porous nanomaterials. In 2004, after working at the National Coal Institute (Oviedo, Spain) in the preparation of activated carbon nanofibers, he joined the HYMOSSES EU project at the Carbon Chemistry Institute (Zaragoza, Spain) to develop carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) with applications in hydrogen storage. In 2004 he was awarded a Ramon y Cajal Fellowship, returning back to the UGR in 2005. Since then, he has developed his independent career leading projects related to the synthesis and functionalization of CNMs and their applications.

Dr Alicia Domínguez-MartínAlicia is Associate Prof. (Senior Lecturer) at Universidad de Granada (UGR). She successfully completed her Doctoral Thesis in 2013 in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at UGR. She developed her postdoctoral position at University of Zurich in the Laboratory of Prof. Roland K.O. Sigel until 2017, time during which she was awarded with different grants, including a brief mobility to the Slovenian NMR center with Prof. J. Plavec (Ljubljana, 2014). She returned to UGR in 2017, where she started her independent career working on the characterization of metal-DNA interactions and the cocrystalization of drugs.

Dr Victor KarimVíctor Karim is a Research Associate at University of Granada (UGR). He completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at UGR in 2015, focused on the functionalization of carbon nanomaterials. Then, he studied cold plasma reduction of graphene oxides. In 2017, he started a Postdoc position at the Associated Laboratory for the Green Chemistry, University of Porto (Portugal), in the Prof. Cristina Freire’s Lab. During this period, he developed nanocomposites based on nanocarbons, MOFs, and POMs, and assessed them as electrocatalysts for the energy-related processes. Since 2021, he returned to the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at UGR as ‘Junta de Andalucía’ Postdoc Research Fellow. His career continues linked to the surface modification of nanocarbons with functional groups, molecules, and metals.

Mr Antonio Pérez RomeroAntonio completed his degree in Chemistry at the Universidad de Sevilla (2018), where he worked as an intern student in the Department of Organic Chemistry (2104-16). During this time he also enjoyed an Erasmus scholarship to study at the Università di Pisa (Italy) during the 2016/17 academic year. Afterwards, he moved to Univeristy of Granada to complete his Master studies (2018/19). He is currently doing his PhD in our group, and his work focuses on metalized single-stranded DNA systems. Antonio is a great supporter of Sevilla Football Club.
